Poquonock Community Church, Congregational

Bible Verse of the Month:In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:9-11, 14-15 RSV)

A FEW ITEMS TO NOTE

Our New Adopted Soldier is Trey Anderson, grandson of Jim & Lucile Anderson, who has been deployed to Afganistan. The soldier basket is located outside of the lounge. Please help fill it up. There is a list of suggested items on the CMSC board.

A New Writer: Dyana Little has written and published a children’s book. It is entitled, “The Tale of Crabby Crab”. The book will be available for purchase at the beginning of December. If you are interested in purchasing a copy of this book, please see Dyana.

Care-Giver’s Small Group meets every Thursday morning at 9:30. Anyone who is a part or full-time caregiver is encouraged to attend. We will be learning to support one another, sharing our joys and struggles, praying for one another and for those in our care. We usually head over to Mahaney’s for coffee by around 10. Come join us!

Lost and Found: The lost and found box is now located in the church office.  If you are missing something, either talk to Pastor or call the office and speak to Mary.

PCC Meets Ebay: How would you like to clear out things you have around the house, give them a new life, and help the mission of the church at the same time? Well now you can! We're starting the PCC Tag Sale. Beginning today, you can list items that have life, are in good condition, and that you'd be willing to part with. All you have to do is send an email to Mary Blodgett, our church secretary. If you don't do computers, you can write her a note or stop by the office during regular hours. Mary will collect all the listings (please be specific about the condition, and whether the item is new or used), and will post them in the next month's edition of The Road. We will also list them for sale on Ebay. Here's the really good news. You'll never be bothered about the item or asked to bring it anywhere unless it sells. Once it sells, we will handle shipping, and will even pick it up if you need us to. The Executive Council will be deciding what we'll be doing with the money from this ongoing fund raiser, but be assured that 100% of the profits will go to a good cause!

Monday Night Prayer Group Meets 7 – 7:30 in the Lounge.  Please come and join us in prayer.  We have been meeting for corporate prayer - where we pray together for the needs and life of our church.  Any questions contact Bob Christopherson.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help with hospitality duties. If you are interested in providing and/or serving after-service refreshments, please check out the sign-up sheet in the loggia and volunteer for a Sunday.

Newsletters:  PCC is looking for articles for the newsletter.  If there is something you would like to share with PCC, please contact Mary in the office.

The Friday Morning Bible Study Group meets in room 6 at 10 a.m. Contact Bob Gridley with questions.

Mary Blodgett is collecting pop tops for the Shriner’s. Anyone willing to collect them can bring them in to the office anytime.

PCC Cookbook: PCC Cookbooks are for sale in the office for $10 each.

E-Mails:  We are attempting to build-up our e-mail list.  Anyone who is not on our list or has changed e-mails in the last year, please fill out a blue card and send it to the office.  Thanks.

On the 1st Sunday of each month the kitchen and refrigerator will be cleaned and cleared of all items.  These items will be disposed of.

Remember The Windsor Food Bank Please don’t forget to bring a bag of nutritious, nonperishable food the first Sunday of the month. There are more hungry people than ever since the Great Depression, and they would greatly appreciate your donations of peanut butter, cereal, oatmeal packets, pasta, pasta sauce, soup, crackers.

Our flower chart is posted in the loggia. Please sign up for a Sunday if you would like to remember a loved one or honor someone special.

Prayer Chain:  If you would like to be contacted to pray for emergencies, crisis and sudden needs, see either Lynne Hosig, Beth Storey, or Pastor.  You will be notified of prayer needs by e-mail.  If you would like to participate and don’t have an e-mail, we can arrange to call you.

Filling out an encouragement card? Please remember that, for mailing purposes, the address must go on the blank side of the post card. Your message goes on the side with the scripture passage from Hebrews 10:25.

Free Christian literature is available in the loggia: With the exception of "Today's Christian," (New name for The Christian Reader) which is $2.00/copy, all other literature on the loggia table is free. "The Upper Room" and "Guideposts" are available in both regular and large print editions and are published every other month.

Deadline for all bulletin announcements is noon on Tuesdays. They may be sent by e-mail to the office, phoned in or dropped off at the office.

Prayer:  Oh Lord, help us to make this a good site in your eyes!
