MISSIONCentral to our life as a church is Jesus' command to love God and our neighbor as ourselves. We deeply care for each other because we believe God cares for each of us. Our goal is to be a positive, supportive, encouraging family in Christ. SPIRITUAL LIFEWe believe that faith in God and a relationship with Jesus Christ is basic to everything, including the abundant life. As a result we emphasize how God can be a powerful, healing force in day to day living. Within the framework of trust in Christ as Lord and Savior, we accept and value different viewpoints. FAMILY MINISTRYThere is a commitment among us to help families grow in caring and the discovery of Christian principles for life. This spirit pervades our Church School, Youth Groups, Adult Fellowship, and the many activities that bring children and adults together. As a ministry to families in the community we provide a week-day, non-sectarian nursery school. OUR HERITAGEWe began a tradition of serving God and the people of this area in 1841 as the Poquonock Congregational Church. In 1924 we added "community" to our name to show our desire to reach out to all the people around us. After our original meeting house was destroyed by a tornado in 1979, we built a new sanctuary and fellowship hall. Our ministry continues into our 150th year with vitality and vision. |
